Ms Onyango is the C.E.O of the SME Support centre from 2017 to date. She was previously the Associate Partner for East Africa for MN Capital Africa Advisors. She sits on various boards including African Investment Committee of the Berkeley Middle East Investor Club, Association of Startups & SME enablers(ASSEK) and Association of Sustainability Practitioners(ASPK).
Ms Onyango is a management and financial consultant with over 11 years’ experience in business advisory, capital raising and market entry support gained from working at the management level for blue chip advisory firms such as KPMG and PWC. In March 2019, she was awarded the “most effective local supporter” by the prestigious Berkeley Middle East Holdings based in Dubai due to her efforts in mobilising capital into Africa.
Ms Onyango’s consulting experience cuts across clients in the public and private sector and across multiple industries with a keen focus on the agricultural and renewable energy sector. She been involved in numerous business consulting assignments in the agriculture sector in East Africa and most notably was instrumental in the successful implementation of one of the largest public sector mergers in the agriculture sector in Kenya that involved the collapse of 10 separate state directorates into one directorate called the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Authority (AFFA).
Ms Onyango has also through business advisory supported the roll out, scale and adoption of renewable energy technologies such as solar irrigation, solar refrigeration, biogas technologies and mini-grids in East Africa. As the Lead SME Advisor at Energy 4 Impact & Climate Innovation Centre, Ms Onyango has led the design and implementation of investment readiness programs and business advisory support to over 100 renewable energy and agribusiness entrepreneurs over the last 3 years. Her contribution in the renewable energy & farming nexus in Kenya earned her an award as one of the UNLEASH Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) shapers and talents from Kenya in 2017. In 2018 she was further appointed as an SDG Influencer to represent Kenyan SMEs at first Heads of States Partnership for Green Growth Summit in Copenhagen.
Ms Onyango has a Master’s of Business Administration Graduate from Strathmore Business School (Nairobi) in partnership with the IESE Business School (Barcelona). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Kenyatta University in Kenya and is also a chartered certified accountant.
Andrew is a seasoned entrepreneur, engineer and management consultant.
He currently serves as a Director of KIRDI (Kenya Industrial Research & Development Institute) and chairman of its Research, Technology and Innovation Committee (RTI)
He has extensively been involved with SME support – incubation services especially for product development and certification and provision common manufacturing facilities. He helped KIRDI develop the funding application concept for the Kenya Industry and Entrepreneurship Project (KIEP). He has also given advisory support to SME’s on: business conceptualization and planning; market assessment and product design. He is particularly passionate about SME productivity, quality, process measurements, innovation and adoption of technology. Towards this end, he recently undertook a study tour to learn about the innovation and startup ecosystem in Germany.
Over the years, he gained extensive networks that have helped him understand the Kenyan business, policy and government landscape. In particular, he has served in leadership positions in various public and private sector and community organisations including: National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Water Resources Management Authority (WRMA), Karuri Water Company, Kiambu County Water Company, KIRDI (Kenya Industrial Research & Development Institute), KEPSA (Kenya Private Sector Alliance), EcoTourism Kenya, Kenya Tourism Federation, Nyari Resident Society and Kiambaa Development Network. He has undertaken extensive training in corporate governance and leadership.
He is also a Founder and Managing Director of Africa Point – a tourism and travel company – and also a Director of Payset Capital Limited – a Business Solution Provider to one of Kenya’s integrated telecommunications providers.
Stefan is an international Business and Human Resource Top Executive with over 30 years of senior management experience with blue chip enterprises. As Chairman, Consultant, Lecturer & Speaker, he has provided a wide range of services around the globe with focus on EMEA subjects.
He is the currently the Chairman of the Berkeley Middle East Investors Club and a Partner, International Business Relations and Investments Advisory for the Human Resources Division.
He previously served as the Corporate Heald of Human Resources for Turtle Management SFO Limited and also Vice-President, Human Resources, for Quantum Global Group. He has also previously been a Partner at Stanton Chase International for over 7 years.
He has also held very senior roles at various other blue-chip organisations including British American Tobacco (BAT), Marc Rich Group, Inventages Venture Capital Limited and Swatch Group Limited.
